We recently held a competition on Facebook for Father’s Day. The prize was a box of 12 themed cupcakes!
In order to enter the competition, people would have to like the Facebook page if they hadn’t already, and to like and share the post about the competition.
The competition ran from the 24th of May until the 11th of June, just a week before Father’s day! There had been some interest in the competition in that time, which was good considering it was only the first competition we had done!
The sponge used for the cupcakes was a yummy Madeira sponge, and the moustaches and ties were made out of fondant icing. I had a special moustache shaped cutter for the moustaches, and used a set of special cake tools to do the ties. I’ve never done ties before but considering it was my first time making them, they’ve turned out a lot better than I thought!
The winner of the cupcakes was Nicola, and we received a message off her, saying that she was surprised to have won! She told us that the cupcakes were a joint surprise for her father and her husband, and that she had tried one for herself and thought it was delicious!
Father’s Day might not be as ‘big’ as Mother’s Day is, but it is always a brilliant day to show your father how much you appreciate his rubbish DIY that takes 6 months to complete, or how much you appreciate him not telling your mother you came in at 4am on a night out that you shouldn’t have done. So whether it was a surprise box of cupcakes, or a DIY-related present you gave him for Father’s Day to show your appreciation, it’s always a great day to spoil your Dad!
This was just the first of MANY competitions here at Madd For Cakes, so make sure you keep an eye out for any future competitions! However if you can’t wait that long for a competition, you can always have a look at our shop and see which cake (or cupcakes) catch your eye!
