Madd For Cakes recently had a Food Hygiene inspection, on the 24th of April 2017.
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) is in place to help consumers where to shop for food or to eat out at in England, Wales and Northern Ireland by giving them information about the hygiene standards of restaurants, takeaways and food shops. In Scotland, the scheme is in place under the FHIS.
The whole aim of having the FHRS and the FHIS in place is to reduce the number of incidents with foodborne illnesses. The FHRS is now running in the whole of Wales and Northern Ireland and almost everywhere in England.
The rating is calculated based on information given throughout the inspection. The rating is calculated on compliance with food hygiene and safety procedures, compliance with structural/cleaning requirements and confidence in management procedures. There is a compliance score on each section, and they are then added together to give an overall compliance score. There are 6 different hygiene rating (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) with 5 being the highest rating, representing an overall “very good” level of compliance with legal requirements.
Madd For Cakes is registered with Trafford Council who have been taking part in the scheme since 2011.
After having the inspection, Madd For Cakes was given their official hygiene rating. The rating came back…… as a 5!! Getting a 5 was a big surprise for us here as Madd For Cakes only officially started in October 2016 so to have a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 by April 2017 was the best news ever. That rating can now be found on the Food Standard Agency website here.
Getting such a good rating is only the beginning for Madd For Cakes, and it can only get better from here. Who knows what the future holds? Hopefully it holds a lot more of those “very good” 5 ratings for Madd For Cakes!
